With nothing else to really go on i assumed this was the problem and ordered a new power supply.

When the power button is depressed it powers on momentarily spinning the cpu and power board fans but then immediately shuts off. The problem is that it will not power on.

I have unplugged in turn the optical drive video card and riser and finally the hard drive. My x51 r2 died and i determined the video card was drastically over heating in a hurry.
