You ll rough in the tub drain with 1 1 2 inch pipe with male threads that extend 1 2 inch above the level of the floor.
Stand in the alcove where the bathtub will be installed so you re facing the drain.
A much smaller cut out in the slab or floor is needed just for the down pipe pictured below.
